Best Pie in Australia in Victoria

Australia’s best pies are officially found in Victoria.

Country Cob Bakery in Kyneton is officially the best bakery in the land, winning the bragging rights to the nations best pie for 2019.

The staggering fest of pie goodness has been matched 3-years Running, with Country Cob Bakery winning in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

There were 1700 entries from 350 bakeries competing for the top award of Australia’s Best Pie.

The awards are held annually by the Baking Association of Australia.

In 2018, the bakery won for a satay seafood pie.

This year it was a caramelised pork and pepper pie that was Australia’s best pie. ?

The winning pie is chosen from 345 bakeries, with 1,760 pies being assessed by 12 judges, and it’s pretty extraordinary that these pies have won three years running.

“It’s not a surprise because it took me eight years to become pie champion. Every night when I sleep, I dream of making pies for the competition,” Chan Khun, the bakery owner, told SBS Food.

Khun grew up in Cambodia and moved to Australia in 2004. “Coming to a new country, I had to try everything. I had my first bite of a pie and it was completely different from what I ate back home,” he says.

A few years later, after a great deal of study and work, Khun bought the County Cob Bakery and turned it into Australia’s best.
